Auschwitz Concentration Camp "Work Makes You Free"
Auschwitz is located in Poland, the famous words just above the enterence to the Concentration CampArbeit Macht Frei means, "Work Makes You Free" are the terrifying words that the Jews read upon coming to the Camp. This camp was the largest concentration camp during World War II, it's original use was being used as Army Barracks (so it wasn't always an evil place to be.) Who operated such a slaughterhouse that killed at least 1.1 million Jews? Well, ladies and gentlemen, you can point your fingers at the SS Army!
I guess you could say that this was Germany's answer to their Final Solution (since they thought that the Jews were the reason for all their problems) and that is just discrimination since they took extreme mesures to try to exterminate an entire people (pretty messed up don't you think?) The extreme measures taken to try to exterminate the Jews were:
Medical Experiments: these were pretty brutal, and as such, I will not go into detail. Let's just say, the German doctors liked Autopsies.
Gas Chambers - these were often called 'showers' to the prisoners who were unfortunate enough to end up with this fate (the majority of the people gassed in these chambers were children, women, elders, and people who were deemed unable to work). The SS soldiers would give a bar of soap, and a towel to the prisoners so as not to arouse suspicion, then they would bolt the doors shut, and drop pellets of Zyklon-B (a.k.a: Hydrogen Cyanide {HCN}) and those in the chambers died within 20 minutes with screaming heard in that period of time. (Again, brutal on how the prisoners were found after being gassed, so I will not go into further detail - WARNING- if you want to find out, well, curiousity killed the cat! And you will probably have nightmares so I wouldn't recremmend it.)
Crematories: these are kinda like places where people get cremated if they wish to be buried that way when they die, but they were mostly used to cover up the evidence of the gassed bodies.
These are the Horrors of the Concentration Camps, please for the sake of what's left of our sanity, and humanity, let's NOT repeat history, and bring this horrible Nightmare back; it's the last thing anyone needs, and I would hope that the Germans have learned something from their horrible and unforgttable mistake.
